Our Heritage

Our Heritage: 1900-1959

Our funeral home was built in April of 1885, as a private residence for the family of C.R. Carlson. It was not until 1932, when it was sold to A.B. and Knut E. Train, that it became Train Brothers Funeral Home. In April 1950, James Maitland Johnson bought the funeral home from the Train Brothers, making it Johnson Funeral Home.

At that time, another funeral home was in operation in Lindsborg by the name of Danielson Brothers Funeral Home. It was the former Erickson Brothers Funeral Home, which dates back to the early 1900's. The two funeral homes merged and became Danielson-Johnson Funeral Home in the current building we use today.

Our Heritage: 1959 - 2005

After the merger, the funeral home was sold to Delpha L. and Opal Anderson in June of 1959, making it Anderson Funeral Home. In 1983, it was sold to G. Edward Ball, but retained the Anderson Funeral Home name. Shortly after in 1985, Harlan Hays bought the funeral home and it became Hays Funeral Home.

When Harlan retired in 2000, Alan Christians purchased the funeral home and it became Christians Funeral Home. In 2005, Olson's Funeral Home of nearby Marquette closed its doors and became a part of Christians Funeral Home as well. After Alan Christians' passing in 2012, his son, Shannon Christians, purchased the funeral home and oversees operations today.

Today

At Christians Funeral Home, we are proud of our company's rich tradition. We operate in the same building C.R. Carlson built in 1885, and retain original funeral records from Lindsborg dating back to 1907, and Marquette dating back to 1915. We are proud to be a family-owned and operated full-service funeral facility. In addition to at-need services, we offer pre-need service plans and custom monuments. We are dedicated to serving our clients and community with dignity and compassion in their times of need.
